The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D is a high-performance Ryzen 9000 Series desktop processor based on the Zen 5 architecture and equipped with 2nd Gen AMD 3D V-Cache technology. Its combination of strong single-thread performance, 12 CPU cores and an exceptionally large L3 cache makes it suitable for high-end gaming PCs, streaming, content creation and demanding productivity workloads.
The processor features 12 cores and 24 threads with SMT support. Its base clock is 4.4 GHz, while Precision Boost 2 enables a maximum boost clock of up to 5.5 GHz. The processor is unlocked for overclocking and also supports Precision Boost Overdrive, Curve Optimizer and AMD Ryzen Master.
A key feature is the 128 MB L3 cache utilizing 2nd Gen AMD 3D V-Cache technology. The large cache provides the processor with additional high-speed memory close to the CPU cores and can particularly benefit gaming and other latency-sensitive workloads. The processor also includes 12 MB of L2 cache and 960 KB of L1 cache.
The AM5 platform provides support for DDR5 memory and PCI Express 5.0. The dual-channel memory controller supports up to 256 GB of DDR5 memory, officially up to DDR5-5600 with two memory modules. AMD EXPO support makes it easy to use performance profiles on compatible memory kits. The processor provides 28 native PCIe 5.0 lanes in total, with 24 usable lanes.
The processor also includes integrated AMD Radeon Graphics with 2 graphics cores operating at up to 2200 MHz, allowing display output without a discrete graphics card when supported by the motherboard. Default TDP is 120 W and the maximum operating temperature is 95 °C. A CPU cooler is not included, and AMD recommends liquid cooling for optimal performance.
