The MSI B550-A PRO is an ATX motherboard based on the AMD B550 chipset and AM4 socket. Designed for compatible AMD Ryzen processors, it combines PCIe 4.0 support, fast M.2 storage, extensive connectivity and MSI PRO features focused on stable and reliable operation.
The motherboard features 4× DDR4 DIMM slots with dual-channel memory architecture and support for up to 128 GB of memory. DDR4 frequencies of up to 4400+ MHz are supported through A-XMP OC mode, with the maximum achievable speed depending on the installed processor and memory configuration.
The primary graphics slot is a PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16 slot, with the supported generation depending on the installed processor. Additional expansion is provided by a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot operating at up to x4 and two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots. The motherboard also supports 2-Way AMD CrossFire technology.
Storage connectivity includes 2× M.2 slots and 6× SATA 6Gb/s ports. The primary M.2 slot supports PCIe 4.0/3.0 x4 and SATA drives up to the 22110 form factor, while the second M.2 slot supports PCIe 3.0 x4 drives up to 2280. RAID 0, 1 and 10 are supported for SATA storage, with RAID 0 and 1 available for NVMe drives.
Networking is provided by Realtek RTL8111H Gigabit LAN, while Realtek ALC892/ALC897 audio delivers 7.1-channel HD Audio with Audio Boost. The rear I/O includes 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and Type-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, four USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and DisplayPort. The display outputs require a processor with integrated graphics. A dedicated Flash BIOS Button simplifies BIOS updates.
