ASUS B850M AYW GAMING OC WIFI7 W is a high-performance micro-ATX motherboard in a white design, based on the AMD B850 chipset and AM5 socket. It supports AMD Ryzen 7000, 8000 and 9000 series desktop processors and combines powerful power delivery with modern connectivity and features designed for system tuning and overclocking.
The power section uses a 12+2+1 power-stage configuration rated at 80A and is complemented by large VRM heatsinks. The motherboard also offers Asynchronous Clock with an external clock generator, enabling more precise BCLK control when tuning processor performance.
Two DDR5 DIMM slots are available for system memory, supporting a maximum capacity of 128GB and dual-channel operation. AMD EXPO and ASUS AEMP profiles are supported. The maximum supported speed depends on the processor used – ASUS specifies up to 8400+ MT/s with Ryzen 9000, up to 9600+ MT/s with Ryzen 8000 and up to 8000+ MT/s with Ryzen 7000.
The main expansion slot supports PCIe 5.0 x16 with Ryzen 7000 and 9000 processors and features SafeSlot construction and a Q-Release mechanism. An additional PCIe 4.0 slot provides four lanes directly from the chipset.
Storage options include three M.2 slots and two SATA 6Gb/s ports. With Ryzen 7000 and 9000 processors, the primary M.2 slot operates in PCIe 5.0 x4 mode, while the remaining two M.2 slots support PCIe 4.0 x4. The specific lane configuration may vary when Ryzen 8000 processors are used.
Network connectivity is provided by Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet together with a 2×2 Wi-Fi 7 wireless adapter for the 2.4, 5 and 6GHz bands. Bluetooth 5.4 is also part of the wireless connectivity.
The rear panel offers a total of ten USB ports including USB-C with speeds of up to 20Gb/s, three USB 10Gb/s ports and four USB 5Gb/s ports. DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, BIOS FlashBack and Clear CMOS buttons, and a pre-installed I/O shield are also included. Internally, a connector for front USB-C with speeds of up to 10Gb/s is also available.
