The MSI Z270 TOMAHAWK is an ATX motherboard based on the Intel Z270 chipset and LGA 1151 socket. It supports 6th and 7th Gen Intel Core i7, i5 and i3 processors as well as compatible Intel Pentium and Celeron CPUs. The Z270 platform provides extensive connectivity for gaming and productivity systems and also supports 2-Way AMD CrossFire.
Four DIMM slots support up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory in Dual Channel mode. With 7th Gen Intel processors, memory speeds of up to DDR4-3800 MHz are supported when overclocked, while 6th Gen processors support up to DDR4-3600 MHz when overclocked. Intel XMP support enables easy configuration of compatible memory performance profiles.
Expansion connectivity includes 3× PCIe 3.0 x16 and 3× PCIe 3.0 x1 slots. Storage options include 2× M.2 slots supporting PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA SSDs, along with 6× SATA 6 Gb/s connectors. Intel Optane Memory is supported, as are SATA RAID 0/1/5/10 and M.2 PCIe RAID 0/1 configurations.
Network connectivity is provided by Intel I219-V Gigabit LAN, while the audio subsystem uses a Realtek ALC892 codec with 7.1-channel HD Audio and optical S/PDIF output. Rear connectivity includes USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C and Type-A at up to 10 Gbps, 4× USB 3.1 Gen 1, 2× USB 2.0, HDMI and DVI-D. Internal connectivity includes additional USB headers, a water-pump connector, four system-fan connectors and an RGB LED header.
