ASUS B860M MAX GAMING AX is a micro-ATX motherboard based on the Intel B860 chipset and LGA1851 socket. It is designed for Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors and combines modern DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0, fast M.2 storage and network connectivity suitable for powerful gaming and work builds.
The power delivery uses a 6+1+1+1 power-stage configuration rated at 80A. Stable power delivery is complemented by DIGI+ VRM digital control, a ProCool power connector and enlarged VRM heatsinks that help maintain stable processor operation under sustained load.
Four DDR5 DIMM slots support Dual Channel operation, a total capacity of up to 256GB and speeds of up to 8666+ MT/s when overclocked. Intel XMP, ASUS Enhanced Memory Profile III, DIMM Fit and modern CUDIMM modules are also supported.
A main PCIe 5.0 x16 SafeSlot is available for the graphics card. Additional expansion cards can be installed in one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot operating at x4 and two PCIe 4.0 slots operating at x1.
For fast SSDs, the motherboard offers three M.2 slots. The primary M.2 supports PCIe 5.0 x4, the second PCIe 4.0 x4 and the third PCIe 4.0 x2. Four SATA 6Gb/s ports are available for conventional SATA drives.
Network connectivity is provided by Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet with ASUS LANGuard and Wi-Fi 6 supporting the 2.4 and 5GHz bands. Bluetooth 5.4 is also available for connecting compatible wireless peripherals.
The rear panel offers a total of ten USB ports including USB-C 20Gb/s with DisplayPort Alt Mode support, USB-A 10Gb/s, four USB-A 5Gb/s and four USB 2.0 ports. DisplayPort 1.4 provides an additional video output. An internal USB-C 10Gb/s connector is also available for the case front panel.
Audio is provided by a Realtek 7.1 Surround Sound High Definition Audio codec, complemented by isolated audio PCB layers, audio shielding and premium audio capacitors. The motherboard supports playback quality up to 24-bit/192kHz.
ASUS Q-Design simplifies PC assembly and maintenance through Q-DIMM, Q-Slot, Q-LED Core and Q-Dashboard features. The pre-mounted I/O shield makes installing the motherboard in the case easier, while three Addressable Gen 2 headers allow compatible ARGB lighting to be connected and synchronized with Aura Sync.
